“LINOCUT” —

The term linocut refers to a type of relief printing where the printer carves a block of linoleum which is then coated with a layer of ink and sent through a press to transfer the image onto paper.

— “SCREEN PRINT”

In it’s simplest form, screen printing is using a screen to print an image by blocking out certain areas on the screen so the ink falls through the areas you want it to. There are many different ways to turn a screen into a stencil, the most common of which involves coating the screen in a photo sensitive emulsion that when set, allows a black and white image to be burned onto the screen using a light booth. The UV rays from the booth harden the areas of the image that are white/transparent and softens the black areas so that it falls out of the screen when washed, making it so ink will come through in those areas, where there should be color in the image. I use this technique to print onto textiles which are heat set so you can wash and dry like normal.

“ETCHING” —

Etching is an intaglio style of printing that is, in essence, the opposite of relief printing. Instead of carving out the “white” areas or areas you don’t want inked, you instead carve the areas you want to have color, as ink will be applied to the carved material in such a way that the ink is held only in the etched lines and pressed out into paper using an etching press.

— “MONOPRINT”

A monoprint is a unique print that is always an edition of one, no two monoprints are ever the same! The monoprinting technique I use for many of my prints and cards involves rolling slow-drying acrylic inks on to paper.

“polymer” Clay —

Polymer clay is clay you can bake in the oven! I roll an assortment of colors into beads and use a high strength adhesive to bond them to stainless steel posts to create my polymer clay earrings.
